ABOUT
Klara Kazmi is: magic, different, crazy, childish, out there, pure, strong, original, positive, hopeful, joyous, bubbling, trusting, introspective, orangutan loving, disturbingly happy, uncontrollable female force, dragging a wagon stuffed with love. Her voice is not from this planet, compelling the listener to hear every single word she utters. She believes in love with a childlike trust that is contagious. her audience always leaves the room uplifted with a strange smirk on their faces, saying maybe life isn’t all that bad. The music which we for obvious reasons call “feel good music”, is a mixture between Soul, Reggae, Jazz and Funk that forms a new genre that Klara calls Souggae Junk. The song are often catchy, with beats that provoke a goose-necking syndrome. The melodies are beautiful and the lyrics heartwarming.
So what has she done?
Klara released her debut Ep “Quest for Klarity” on her own label “Mayatoll” in late 2009. The EP was well received especially in Sweden where it got a lot of airplay and great reviews. The EP spanned 3 singles, and even though Klara did everything herself she managed to get it out to 6 European countries, and aired on a total of 47 stations. Not bad for a girl with absolutely no experience of the music business.
What’s new?
Since the release Klara has spent a lot of time in the studio working on her new album , but also a lot of time performing together with her band “The Professional Funhavers”. Her latest single is a catchy track called SUNSHINE AND BUTTERFLIES, a Sweet “O Brother, Where Art Thou” type of summer song that makes you wanna get into some hillbilly clothes, get a banjo and sit on the porch and play until the sun sets. That’s right I said a banjo, see this girl managed to make the banjo cool. The sound is fresh, but still familiar.
Her voice is incredible, an evenly balanced mixture between Billie Holiday and Macy Gray, topped of with a ton of cotton candy.
This song is truly epic and it will definitely make your feet stomp and hips sway, but most importantly it will make you smile.
Enjoy!
